Refers to Japanese archery/archery and the longbow bows used there. Also, “Japanese bow” is the word for Western bow (archery bow).

The two characteristics of Japanese bows are that they are long bows, over 2 meters long, and that they are used by holding the bow

below the center of the trunk. In ancient times, it was called a large bow (daikyu, oyumi), and it referred to a bow with a total

length of about 2 meters or more.
