Using Omnisurface to Shade a character.

Post by d.b.melvin1993 »

After some searching and looking around, Omnisurface can now be used with plenty of guides. one of those is the demonstration of Reallusion it's "Digital Human Shader" for skin, as the shader in itself makes use of the same style of parameters and options as Omnisurface.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFYkoXqPkl8 - You may wonder here, why look at something that is not from daz? essentially, using Omnisurface enabled you to follow along with tutorials outside of daz, and Reallusions Digital Human shader makes use of almost all the same values you will find in Omnisurface. Furthermore, the examples of maps you see in the video are also explained and can give you an idea in what direction you have to go map wise in order to work with omnisurface.

Here they explained that making use of Transmission and Transmission maps can be useful, and i took this to the test to see what effect it produces.

The result is quite nice, and good as well to indicate which parts of skin also appear slightly more transparent together with Translucency to create an even better look and appearance, but to also further enhance the overall scattering effect in those parts.

I will later also create a Omnisurface for daz topic, where i will share settings that work and what to take into consideration.
